What is it about?

Most people ask, what is it all about? Who invented it and why? Well Softball is just like baseball. during World War II it developed as a younger version of baseball. Softball was the sport that combined boating, boxing and football. A boating club, a boxing glove and a football game were key parts in the very first game of softball. It was introduce on Thanksgiving Day in 1887 at a Harvard-Yale football game. A man threw a boxing glove at a Harvard Grad after the game was done. And a fan hit the glove away with a broom handle. George Hancock tied a boxing glove up and made a "softball". He also drew a small baseball diamond on the boating club floor and then the game began. The game was finally over an hour later and the score was 41-40. Later on Hancock made up rules and then began to make a softball and a bat. But the bat had a rubber tip on it, which was great for indoors and he also painted permanent foul lines on the floor. So, as you can tell it was all just a couple of Graduates messing around and what we know now today as Softball.

Why I chose this

The topic I chose was Softball. I chose this because I am interested in the history and how it became what it is today. I find it interesting because of where it was founded and how it was founded. Many people don’t stop and look at what everything is and how it became what it is today. It would be better to have learned about what it is and how it all started and understand the concepts rather than not knowing about it.
